ProTek RC “TruTorque” Lexan Scissors (Straight)

These straight bladed ProTek RC “TruTorque” Lexan Scissors feature a specific blade angle designed specifically for cutting Lexan (Polycarbonate) material. The straight blades are made from Stainless Steel and are effective at precision straight line cutting, as well as light curved work.

For heavy curved cuts use the ProTek R/C Curved Lexan Scissors (PTK-8278).

I have used ProTek tools since my beginning and I’ve purchased this one, while not purchased from Amain directly, I did buy it from my local hobby shop that wholesale purchases items from Amain.
As I’ve stated, my toolbox contains mostly ProTek tools because they’re all built with quality and this one is no exception. In fact… this is THE sharpest scissors I own in my whole house! This is important because a dull scissors won’t help in building your next project.
Now while I’ve had nothing but success in building my projects with these, I do have one issue and that is the fact that these… are sometimes TOO long to use and I’ve had problems with the scissors scratching up the inside of my bodies. Not a big deal since being a drifter, I’ll probably do far worse but it is a bit of a bugbear. Perhaps ProTek should sell a “stubby” version of these scissors because other than the fact they’re long, they do make great cuts in lexan. I’ve cut some thicker, .7mm RJ Speed lexan with ease and super clean!
So if you’re on the fence about what tools to buy, just get these along with ProTek’s curved “TruTorque” scissors and body reamer as they’ll be the last set of scissors you’ll ever buy! 1 customer found this review helpful. Chuck Osterday Monday, Jun 16 2025 (3 months ago) ProTek RC “TruTorque” Lexan Scissors (Straight) Not sure what all the good reviews are about that’s why I bought them and I was very disappointed the first couple times I used them it made a ripple cut anywhere you used them, I tried taking smaller bites using the end using the shank and it still did the same thing made Ripple cuts had to redo the body with my old scissors I wouldn’t recommend these at all. They are sharp and cut excellent. The short/mid length made trimming stickers easier, as it increased control and dexterity. I liked them so much, I just bought 4 more pairs to have around the house and for other tasks and to have a couple spares. However, the blades are fairly long so there was not enough leverage and therefore force, at the very tip to cut my 1/8 buggy body well on some of the smaller, detail areas. The short, curved scissors seemed to fill that role better.
