Alexander Richards Wednesday, Aug 30 2023 (about 2 years ago) Hot Racing Savage Hardened Steel Spiral Cut Ring & Pinion Gear (26/8T) Purchased these in the hopes of getting a high quality, quiet gearset. Was very disappointed I wasted my money. The gears are not machined correctly and have a ton of runout making them unusable and unable to be shimmed to fix it. The axial runout of the crown gear when installed on the diff cup with no gasket is nearly 0.014″ ! In a gear set like this, excess play or too tight of mesh can be crucial; unfortunately no matter what I did, these would not measure up to even the stock HPI gears or other knockoffs from ebay.
I messed with them for weeks before deciding it wasn’t worth trying to fix them so they would work properly. Now they work perfectly for filling a spot in my toolbox. View all reviews
