The hugely popular 1.9” Super Swamper XL paved the way for larger 1.9” scale tires and the 1.9” Flat Iron XL follows the “bigger is better” mantra. The beloved Flat Iron tread pattern combines scale realism and all out rock climbing performance that you have come to expect from Pro-Line tires.

The large lug pattern combined with siping allows the tire to have the perfect amount of flex under throttle acceleration. Tyler Wednesday, Aug 4 2021 (about 4 years ago) Pro-Line Flat Iron XL 1.9″ Rock Crawler Tires w/Memory Foam (2) (G8) I bought these from my local shop because they were the only Proline tires they had enough of to buy 4 in stock. I don’t know if these are overlooked in the crawling world but let me say that they are fantastic tires. They look awesome and fulfill the scale look category. The foams they come with are extremely soft (softest I’ve ever seen) and unless you have a featherlight crawler should probably be replaced with something more supportive immediately.
The G8 compound they are made with is great. Not overly sticky like they were molded in a vat of molasses. Makes them great tires for trailing on packed dirt and on asphalt when you have to. Crawling up various terrain including, you guessed it, rocks is very good. I’m sure there are some tires out there that will marginally perform better in certain crawling applications, but for general performance these work the same if not better than most other tires I’ve tried. In wet conditions they seem to perform much better than anything else I have tried as well. They are a great all around choice and look great and the compound seems to be built to last a long time. 3 customers found this review helpful. Hyrax are my go-to but I wanted a different look for my Traxxas Ultimate Hauler. So I tried 6 of these in G8.
They look great and crawl just as good as the Hyrax. I do recommend dual stage inserts if you’re running any additional weight.
Note, they do need to scrub in a little bit. Once the leading edge of the lugs wears in a bit your good to go.
I do most of my crawl in desert washes with slick rock, sand, and high temps. These are perfect. 1 customer found this review helpful.
