ProTek R/C Steel Mod 1 Pinion Gears are an affordable pinion gear option that doesn’t skimp on quality. CNC machined from hardened steel material, these precision cut gears are durable and are perfect for any Mod 1 pitch application. Available in 11 – 20 tooth variants, these gears feature a 5mm bore with the tooth count engraved on the gear for easy identification. Plus, each gear includes a setscrew to make installation easy. Anonymous Verified Owner Sunday, Jun 28 2020 (about 5 years ago) ProTek RC Steel Mod 1 Pinion Gear (5mm Bore) (15T) I got 14t, 15t, and 16t. They’re nicely made pinion gears, but unfortunately they are not mod 1. Module system gears are easy to check: outside diameter equals (number of teeth + 2) times the module. The ProTek mod1 14t measured 17.00mm (not 16mm) and the 15t measured 17.93mm (not 17mm). This explains why the other reviewer observed poor fit with the Losi.
For the sake of comparison, I have a few other actual mod 1 gears sitting here. The Tekno 16t measures 17.96mm (correct), Robinson’s 16t is 18.00mm (also correct), Tekno 44t spur is 45.98mm, Arrma 24t is 26.00mm.
In summary, these gears appear to be module 1.something. So if you need a mod 1 gear, don’t buy this. 14 customers found this review helpful. However, just spent 20 minutes in my Traxxas Maxx. I’m running Pro Line 3.8 Trenchers with a Metal 50t Xmax Spur! It resolved my constant cogging nightmare!! And i’ve had a Tekno Pinion (20T) matched with a 50T Hot Racing Spur. The TEKNO cut through my Hot Racing Spur like a knife to butter. In the end its all about how you drive. When I let me son drive he destroys all gears because he loves to rev the crap out of the motor and wheelie all day. Anyways GL!
